Lanciano has been family-owned and operated for more than 35 years. In that time we have refinished dining sets that have hosted four generations of holiday dinners, rebuilt chairs that arrived in pieces, and brought back kitchen cabinets that homeowners had already priced out replacing.
Furniture that would otherwise go to the curb goes back into the house looking better than it has in decades. That is the whole job.
All work is completed onsite at our shop, so the piece you drop off is assessed, stripped, repaired and finished under one roof. You deal directly with the people doing the work, and you see the same standard applied to a $200 chair as to a family heirloom.

Assessment
You send photos or bring the piece in. We tell you what it needs, what it doesn't, and what it will cost.
Stripping
Our flow-over process removes old finishes without lifting veneers or softening carved detail. Gentle enough for delicate antiques, thorough enough for decades of built-up lacquer.
Structural repair
Joints are reglued, damage is filled or replaced with matching timber, and the piece is made sound before anything decorative happens.
Sanding
Careful hand sanding determines the final finish. Progressive grits, the right tool for each profile, no shortcuts on carved or turned sections.
Custom staining
We match almost any existing shade or mix a custom colour to suit the room. Samples go on your actual piece before we commit to the full surface.
Finishing
Lacquer for durability, shellac for authenticity, oil for a natural look, conversion varnish for surfaces that take daily abuse. Applied in multiple thin coats, cured properly, then inspected before the piece goes home.
Worth Restoring, or Time to Replace?
Older furniture is usually built from solid hardwood and uses joinery that new mid-range furniture does not. A 1970 dining table with a damaged finish is often a better piece than anything at the same price today, and refinishing it costs less than replacing it.
Some pieces are not worth the work, and we will say so. If particle board has swollen, or a veneer has delaminated past the point of repair, you are better off spending the money elsewhere.
